Everyone can use a little bit of grammar advice to continuously polish up their writing skills. May I provide you a valuable site for such a resource?
Okay, here goes: What is the difference between may and can?
If you are like me and stumble on grammar rules and English quirks and giggles, alphaDictionary is an excellent resource. If you think, however, that you are a masterful, PhD-wielding pro that never trips on the English language, I have a feeling you will enjoy alphaDictionary anyway; it offers some really nifty and even slightly addictive (for us nerdy writers, anyway) joys, such as:
- The ability to search 1065 dictionaries at once (does humanity really require 1065 dictionaries?)
- Folk etymology, so you can find out how one word from a different language decided to turn itself into English
- Nifty translation tools
My only garble is that the site is not as easy to navigate as others and has marketing laced into it, but then, who doesn’t try to market their work online these days?
And for those of you that are constantly correcting, “Can I go to the bathroom?” fear not, because alphaDictionary has you covered!
